Young Artists Program 2019

The Young Artists Programs includes museum tours and art workshops taught by fine arts and art education students. The class for younger children allow artists to explore a variety of media. Classes for older children will focus on learning more about specific techniques. Class size is capped at 12 children and reservations can be made by calling 785.532.7718. Cost is $10 per session. Young Artist T-shirt can be ordered for an additional $10.

June 4, 9:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 8 and up) Painting Landscapes (acrylics and watercolors)

June 10, 1:30-3:30 p.m. (ages 5-8) Media Exploration (dry media – oil and chalk pastels)

June 11, 9:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 8 and up) Pastel Still Lifes (oil and chalk pastels)

June 17, 1:30-3:30 p.m. (ages 8 and up) Abstract Printmaking (linoleum block and collographs)

June 18, 9:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 5-8) Media Exploration (printmaking)

June 24, 1:30-3:30 p.m. (ages 8 and up) Drawing Portraits (pencil, prismacolor, and charcoal)

June 25, 9:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 5-8) Media Exploration (dry media – pencils and charcoal)

July 1, 1:30-3:30 a.m. (ages 5-8) Photography – places and spaces (please bring a digital camera)

July 2, 9:30-11:30 p.m. (ages 8 and up) Photography – places and spaces (please bring a digital camera)

July 8 & 15, 1:30-3:30 p.m. (ages 8 and up, 2 part workshop) Meadow Installations

July 9 & 16, 9:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 5-8, 2 part workshop) Meadow Installations


One work by each artist per session will be chosen for matting and display.

Young Artists Celebration and Moon Landing Celebration, July 20, 11-1 p.m.

View works created in the Young Artists and participate in art and activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon.
Refreshments will be served. Open to the public.
