The Creative Place: Children and their Art
September 8, 2006 – April 20, 2007
From September 1-December 22, 2006 and January 12-September 2, 2007 the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art was hosting The Creative Place: Children and their Art, an art discovery area with an educational exhibition and art making space in the Museum’s Hempler Gallery. The gallery was used by the Museum’s education staff for early childhood workshops, school tours and after-school/early release programs.
Printmaking is the theme for fall 2006. Children visiting The Creative Place will view prints from the Museum’s collection and a special display about printmaking. All visitors may browse books, touch items associated with printmaking, or participate in simple printing projects. Organized tour groups may create linoleum block prints.
As a special part of The Creative Place, Beach Museum of Art education staff are working with Manhattan after-school programs on Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 early release days. The afternoon workshop includes a tour of the gallery followed by a writing project and art activity. Finished art work and writings will be on display for two to three weeks following the workshop.
