Life is Brief, Art is Forever: Selections from the Sarah Katherine Watt Memorial Collection
September 6, 2013 - December 22, 2013
In 2006, between her junior and senior years, K-State student Sarah Watt died in a car accident. In her memory, her parents John and Susan Watt of Wamego, KS, have given art by regional and American artists to the museum. They donate these works on the occasion of their daughter’s birthday and at Christmas as a way of continuing to give to her.
Sarah was a free spirit. She was intrinsically curious and enjoyed learning for its own sake. Her passions included music, art, and animals, especially horses. Sarah's father instilled in her an appreciation for art and consequently she enjoyed taking her friends to the Beach Museum of Art. This exhibition comprises a selection of the Watt donations and other works given to the museum by family and friends in Sarah’s honor.
